David Eichinger changes to Töging, which is still in the state division.

- From the district league to the regional league - David Eichinger, central defender of BSG Taufkirchen, is facing this jump.

In the summer he switched to the national league club FC Töging, who with seven points behind the first relegation rank is in danger of relegation.

At least the relegation trusts Eichinger his new club in the remaining 13 games.

He actually wanted to change during the winter break.

"I will be in Italy from February 15th for my semester abroad, and by then I would have been able to take part in the preparation and possibly two test matches," explains the 22-year-old law student.

For him it was clear that “I would just like to try it at a higher level and who knows whether it will still be possible in four or five years for professional reasons with football”.

Why to Töging, which is not just around the corner?

Eichingers specialty Andreas Bobenstetter, son of the Buchbach trainer icon Anton Bobenstetter, plays in Töging, and that's how he got there.

For BSG soccer boss Ferdl Schediwy, the Tögingen passport request came as a surprise before the turn of the year.

"They didn't want to pay anything, so we didn't agree," and that was the end of the matter for him.

For Eichinger too.

“When I got back in the summer, I wanted to have the formalities done and get started.

BSG player-coach Thomas Götzberger had known about his central defender's semester abroad for a long time, but was hoping for home visits and a possible replacement.

That was not an option for Eichinger, “because it cannot be planned and is unfair to those who are always in training.
