The volleyball season in Bavaria will continue with immediate effect.

If you don't want to play, you can withdraw, but then get relegated.

A survey in the Würmtal.

Würmtal - The news shortly after the turn of the year came as a bit of a surprise for most of those affected: "On December 30, a meeting of the Games and Youth Committee decided to resume games on January 8," said the Bavarian Volleyball Association (BVV) With. Although BVV had initially only scheduled its extended Christmas break due to corona until January 6, an extension as in other sports, such as handball, seemed likely due to the increasing number of Omikron.

Competitive volleyball has been allowed to be played again in Bavaria since last weekend, although almost no team returned to the company on the first possible match day - probably also due to the short-term nature of the BVV decision.

"I would have expected that the break would be extended," says Markus Ludwig, department head of TV Planegg-Krailling and thus head of the largest volleyball division in the Würmtal.

And he specifies: "I would have expected more caution."

Volleyball in Bavaria: BVV shows goodwill - within limits

The association shifts the responsibility in Corona times a little on its clubs, which it does not oblige to participate in the game.

“Of course, BVV is aware that we are still in the middle of a pandemic.

The teams are still free to decide whether they want to compete or not, ”said an announcement by the association, which also extended the season until the end of May in order to create more scope for catch-up games.

So goodwill - but with clear limits.

Because a section from BVV's statement caught one or the other club coldly: “Teams that are no longer able to take part in the game can withdraw from the league at their own request.

You are the first to be relegated. "

"I found this threatening gesture unfair and wrong"

So if the situation in these months is too hot for you or if you cannot cope with the financial and organizational requirements under 2G-plus, you have to get down.

"I found this threatening gesture unfair and wrong," says Ludwig.

"For many teams, relegation is a no-go, and so you run the risk of slipping here and there when implementing the hygiene regulations."

Fenni Mattes sees the situation a little differently.

“I don't see it that badly.

The games can currently be rescheduled and then made up for by the end of May, ”says the department head of Gautinger SC.

Together with Corinna Kötting from TV, Mattes is also district youth warden for the district of Upper Bavaria-South in BVV.

BVV: Youth volleyball games will be closed in January

It is therefore incumbent on you to have a certain handle in matters of gaming operations.

That is why she welcomes the continuation of the season fundamentally (“It is especially important for the children to play”), but at the same time she made sure that the youth games are closed for the time being in January.

Mattes suspects in any case that the basically permitted game operation is only a small intermediate sprint and may no longer be played in one to two weeks due to the pandemic development.

"In the worst case, we won't play again until the end of March or the beginning of April, but you need a perspective," she says.

Volleyball season: some teams from the Würmtal are playing, others are embarrassed

The women's team of the GSC wants to complete their game day this weekend.

One or the other volleyball should also fly through the hall at TV Planegg-Krailling.

"We largely leave the decision to the individual teams," said Ludwig.

The motivation to play is definitely there.

Even so, he expects a few relocations, especially among the lower-class teams, but this has less to do with the 2G-plus regulation.

“That makes the situation more complex, but it is justified.

We can make up for the loss of the few who have not been vaccinated, ”says Ludwig.

Steffen Witte, department head of TSV Neuried, has no worries about this either.

"Our leisure teams are 100 percent vaccinated, and our men should be vaccinated," he says.

The very young team is very cautious about Corona, but is still happy if they can play under the necessary measures.
