Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 32, has missed the second group game of the Gabonese team at the Africa Cup of Nations with a heart problem. The former Dortmund soccer professional had tested positive for the corona virus a week ago. His teammates Axel Méyé (IR Tanger) and Mario Lemina (OGC Nice) did not play against Ghana on Friday for the same reasons.
The African continental association CAF had identified the problems during an investigation.
“According to the CAF Medical Commission, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Axel Meye and Mario Lemina will not be able to take part in the game.
The tests revealed heart problems.
The CAF doesn't want to take any risks," said Gabon's football association.
Any player who has tested negative after a positive corona test must undergo a medical examination before being allowed to play again.
It was also announced on Friday that Alphonso Davies from FC Bayern Munich had been diagnosed with heart muscle inflammation after suffering from corona.
The defender will miss the record champions for several weeks.
