Borussia Dortmund won the Friday evening game of the 19th Bundesliga matchday 5-1 (3-0) against SC Freiburg and is now within three points of leaders FC Bayern Munich.

The goals for BVB in the duel between second and fourth were scored by Thomas Meunier (14th and 29th minute), Erling Haaland (45th + 1st and 75th) and Mahmoud Dahoud (86th).

Ermedin Demirovic shortened the lead in the 61st minute to make it 3-1.

On October 21, 2001, SC Freiburg won in Dortmund for the last time. This black series continued for the guests and the basis for it was laid by someone who actually never scores: Belgian right-back Meunier had scored just one goal in 55 competitive games for black and yellow in the 1-1 draw against Mainz almost a year ago he cheered for the first and so far last time. He scored twice against harmless Freiburgers, each after a corner. Julian Brandt crossed twice and Meunier headed twice was the result after half an hour.

Borussia Dortmund dominated the game a week after the turbulent 3-2 win at Eintracht Frankfurt, SC disappointed immensely in the first half.

Christian Streich's team presented themselves as unusually anxious, offensively harmless and defensively vulnerable, which also had to concede the third goal shortly before the half-time whistle: Jude Bellingham served Haaland and the Norwegian scored from an acute angle.

Demirovic only creates tension for a short time

In the second half, Freiburg acted more courageously, mainly thanks to substitutes Kevin Schade and Demirovic. It was Demirovic who caused danger in the 50th minute when he rounded BVB goalkeeper Gregor Kobel but didn't get the ball in the direction of the goal. He did better ten minutes later when he put a ball from Kobel that had been blocked forward into the goal. Roland Sallai had previously tried a shot from the inside right (61').

For a quarter of an hour, Freiburg sniffed at the goal, but Haaland again made the decision: After winning the ball and strong preliminary work from Dahoud, he scored in the 75th minute to make it 4-1.

It was the 21-year-old's 15th goal of the Bundesliga season.

Dahoud increased to 5:1 shortly before the end (86th), previously the SC had never conceded more than two goals this season.

Both teams continue in the DFB-Pokal during the week: Borussia Dortmund have to play FC St. Pauli on Tuesday (8.45 p.m., TV: ARD), SC Freiburg play at TSG Hoffenheim on Wednesday at the same time.
