On Wednesday in Limbé for the Africa Cup of Nations, Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe had whistled the end of the match too early, twice, finally stopping it a few seconds from the end of the 90 minutes regulation, without playing additional time.

This extremely rare incident had infuriated the Tunisian team, who still hoped to equalize.

This “

inexplicable

” decision, according to the coach of the “

Aigles de Carthage

” Mondher Kebaier, was considered “

scandalous

” by the Tunisian press.

The referee was probably unwell, by 35°C and 65% humidity at the start of the afternoon, according to a source at CAF, which would explain his mistake.
