Daniel Dörfler is Maximilian Zgud's successor as coach of TSV Neuried in the district football league.

The 37-year-old has enjoyed some success in recent years.

Neuried – Maximilian Zgud's successor has been found: Daniel Dörfler, 37, and Josip Hrgovic form the new coaching team for the district league football team at TSV Neuried.

The club announced this on Friday afternoon.

The post as Hrgovic's equal partner on the sidelines had become vacant because Zgud had left TSV at the end of the year.

With Dörfler, the Neurieders have landed a relatively experienced men's coach - compared to the occupation of the position in previous years - who, however, has so far only worked in the leagues between A-Class and district league.

Dörfler has worked for SV 1880 Munich and SV Lochhausen for the past ten years – partly as a player-coach.

He led Lochhausen from the A-class to the district league.

His new coaching colleague, Josip Hrgovic, was also involved in choosing Zgud's successor.

"It was important to create a constellation from which the team primarily benefits," says the 29-year-old, adding: "Daniel and I want to use our two strengths as effectively as possible."

In addition to Hrgovic, Neuried's acting head of football department, Martin Trissler, was involved in the search for a coach.

"We took the time we needed and had a lot of conversations," he said.

"We are still convinced that we will continue to develop our sporting concept with internal and external trainers."

Those responsible at TSV took a very similar path with Dörfler's predecessor.

Zgud was raised from its own reserve team to the first in 2021, but was only piloted to Neuried in 2020.

This dual leadership project in the district league team ended in December after just six months.

Daniel Dörfler is not supposed to be on such short notice, who emphasizes: "We have worked out a specific division of labor so that we can convey to the team both Josip's internal influences and my external influences." Perhaps that will ultimately be the key for a successful cooperation - and the sticking point for the fact that TSV Neuried can still squint towards promotion to the national league after the winter break.
