“There were political questions behind it all”, the world of tennis reacts to the Djokovic affair

Novak would never have gone to Australia if he had not been given an exemption to enter this country by the government.

He would have skipped the Australian Open, stayed home with his family and nobody would have made a fuss of it.

There were political issues behind it with an election approaching (in Australia).

It's not his fault.

He did not force the borders of the country and did not + write his own rules +, he was ready to stay at home

I don't know enough about the case to judge, but what I know of Novak is that he is always the first to support us, us players, but none of between us no one supported it.

The big loser of all this work is the tournament.

The only good news is that we will be able to talk about tennis

Everyone in tennis, from players to coaches to journalists, let's now make the effort to turn the page and focus on the players who will play during the two coming weeks, they've been training hard for months, it's their time

It's not good for the tournament because it would be better if all the best players could participate.

There are obviously going to be a lot of questions about what happened and the situation we found ourselves in.

I've known Novak since we were 12, he's someone I respect and have played against.

I don't like that he finds himself in this situation and I don't like the fact that he has been placed in detention (...).

I hope this will not happen again for other tournaments.

I didn't wish that on Novak or tennis and I hope it's over now
