Coach Nagelsmann and FC Bayern fear a long downtime.
Munich – A shock diagnosis has shaken FC Bayern.
Alphonso Davies is suffering from heart muscle inflammation after his corona infection, coach Julian Nagelsmann announced in an emotional statement on Friday.
The Canadian is doing well so far, but FC Bayern must be prepared for a long downtime.
Davies spoke up for the first time, and his statements should give hope to all FCB fans.
FC Bayern: Alphonso Davies reports after heart muscle inflammation
“Thank you to everyone who has shown me so much love and support.
I can't wait to get back on the field doing what I love," Davies captioned an Instagram photo on Saturday night, in which he gave a left thumb up with a smile.
The post got over 387,000 likes after just a few hours.
Many hearts fly to the Bayern star and the fans wish him a speedy recovery.
But Davies is unlikely to return to the pitch anytime soon.
The rail player, who is extremely important for the Bayern game on the left flank, will be absent for "at least four weeks".
The period is "undetermined at first, so it's anything but good news," said coach Julian Nagelsmann on the Sky TV channel before the Bundesliga game at 1. FC Köln.
"There are very different statistics because you can't say how quickly it heals.
Anything is possible, from at least four weeks to an indefinite time x.” The 21-year-old is still doing “well, you don’t typically notice that,” said Nagelsmann.
Alphonso Davies: Thomas Müller and FC Bayern keep their fingers crossed after heart muscle inflammation
The diagnosis was made during detailed examinations after Davies was infected with the corona virus.
"It is important that we do the investigations, which we do very meticulously, in great detail," said Nagelsmann, also with a view to the numerous corona cases in the record champions' squad.
"It is important that you act in the interests of health, which is above all," said the 34-year-old.

Thomas Müller made a similar statement after Bayern's 4-0 win.
"Now he has to make sure he takes care of his health," he said.
“We keep our fingers crossed as teammates and as a club.
For us as a team it's also stupid, of course, but that's more of a secondary concern."
After Davies' indefinite absence, will Bayern hit the transfer market this winter and provide a replacement?
In any case, Nagelsmann is “a friend of winter transfers”.
