With his first goal of the season, Mario Götze secured PSV Eindhoven the lead in the Dutch Eredivisie in a 1-0 (1-0) win at FC Groningen.
The goal came in the tenth minute.
After a cross from Cody Gakpo, the former Dortmund and Munich player only had to put his foot down.
Coach Roger Schmidt's team will welcome record champions Ajax Amsterdam, who won 3-0 (3-0) at FC Utrecht and are currently just one point behind Eindhoven with 45 points.
Götze has been under contract in Eindhoven since 2020, and after leaving the Europa League in mid-December, the form curve was up again.
His German compatriot Philipp Max came on in added time.
