Bitter and at the same time unnecessary déjà vu for SC Riessersee: The white-blue lead like last time against Passau 1-0 in Höchstadt, but still lose the game of the ice hockey Oberliga Süd.

Höchstadt –

After a goalless first third, Robin Soudek gives SC Riessersee a 1-0 lead away from home, just over 30 minutes have been played.

The fully deserved lead for the white-blue at this point.

But then the SCR collapses for inexplicable reasons, gives up the game and loses.

This description of the events comes from the game of the Riesserseer at the EHF Passau - January 7th, 2022. And the duel with the Höchstadter EC on Sunday evening was exactly the same.

SCR was dominant for a long time, took a 1-0 lead through Soudek after just over half an hour, but then gave up control of the game and ended up losing 4-1 away.

A completely unnecessary bankruptcy of the white-blue in the ice hockey Oberliga Süd.

Höchstadt 20 minutes without a chance

Because it started like in Passau: great.

After three and a half minutes, Elias Lindner missed the 1-0 for the guests two meters in front of the goal of the Höchstadts, but started the urge phase of the white-blues.

Then Tobias Kircher and Soudek gave away the lead before another poor power play followed.

But the defense was solid, the hosts didn't have a real chance in the first 20 minutes.

Soudek finds the gap - 1:0 for the SCR

The same picture at the beginning of the second period: Riessersee better, more pressing, faster, but still goalless because Lindner and Christopher Chyzowski aimed too imprecisely.

Still, it seemed only a matter of time before the winning formula of early pressing would show up on the scoreboard.

Soudek was responsible for this, recognizing a gap in the Alligators' defensive structure, attacking briefly and overcoming HEC goalie Benjamin Dirksen with a well-aimed shot through the schooners.

Riessersee stops playing

But instead of gaining more self-confidence from this, the SCR more or less stopped playing.

He appeared structured and disciplined before, confused and flawed after the lead.

This resulted in plenty of chances for the hosts towards the end of the second period, but went unpunished.

However, Höchstadt made up for it in the final section and turned the game around within a minute because the white-blues actively helped.

"We lost focus and made three individual mistakes," complained SCR coach Pat Cortina at the subsequent press conference.

Three individual mistakes by the white-blue

Number three led to a counterattack that finally decided the game – 1:3 (48th).

Jakob Fardoe finished the game by throwing the disc into the empty SCR goal from his own half.

The unnecessary déjà vu of the SCR was complete.
