The Tampa Bay Buccaneers around quarterback superstar Tom Brady have won their first playoff game of the season and still have the chance to win the Super Bowl again.
In front of their own fans, the Bucs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 31:15 and are in the divisional round next weekend.
By half-time Brady had led his team to a comfortable 17-0 lead.
The score was 31-0 after the third quarter before the Eagles regained hope with two quick touchdowns in the last quarter.
The Buccaneers' next opponent depends on the outcome of the rest of the playoff matches.
Brady, the most successful NFL pro in history with seven Super Bowl victories, had a nearly flawless afternoon, making 29 of his 37 attempts to a teammate and finishing the game with passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bucs won the Super Bowl in February 2021 in Brady's first season with the team.
The quarterback earned the other six championship rings during his time with the New England Patriots.
The Super Bowl to wrap up this season is February 13th at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Patriots failed
On Saturday, the German professional Jakob Johnson failed with the Patriots.
The six-time Super Bowl champion from Foxborough had no chance at 17:47 against the Buffalo Bills.
"We just couldn't keep up," said coach Bill Belichick, who suffered the heaviest loss since taking office in 2000.
The outstanding man at Buffalo was Josh Allen, who provided a playoff record for the Bills with five touchdown passes.
It was already 27:3 at the break.
For Johnson, 27-year-old fullback from Stuttgart, the season is over.
The Cincinnati Bengals celebrated their first playoff win in 21 years, beating the Las Vegas Raiders 26-19.
Quarterback Joe Burrow threw two touchdown passes, rookie kicker Evan McPherson was successful in all four field goal attempts.
The Bengals last won a playoff game against the defunct Houston Oilers in January 1991 and then lost all eight tries.
