When Carlo Ancelotti returned to Real Madrid this summer he knew he had the tools to march the Blancos to a good season but he may not have expected things to go so well either.
In the Spanish league he and his players are ranked first, on Thursday they will play against Elche in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey, in the Champions League they will face in the quarterfinals against PSG and tonight (Sunday), they managed to pick up their first title.
After the victory over Barcelona in the Clasico in the semi-finals, the Whites managed to beat Athletic Bilbao 0: 2 and lift the first title this season on the way to perhaps a particularly magical season.
The Blancos' advantage came in the 37th minute when the unending Luca Modric took control of a ball after Rodrigo's dribble from the wing, and kicked wonderfully inside.
0: 1.
In the 52nd minute, the score was 0: 2.
Fearful of Albers, the Bilbao brake touched a hand in the box and the referee ignored.
The VAR corrected the error and set up a penalty and Karim Benzema subdued Onai Simon from 11 yards out.
Just before the end of the game, Bilbao missed an opportunity to shrink the result.
Raoul Garcia slammed close to Thibaut Courtois' goal, Adar Militau touched the ball with his hand and was sent off by the referee who set up a penalty. Garcia went to kick the penalty himself but was stopped by Courtois who provided a great leap and left the result as it was.
