Harmony Tan, 107th in the world, is the first Frenchwoman to have qualified for the second round of the Australian Open by clearly dominating the Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (42nd) 6-3, 6-3.
Tan, who is participating for the first time at the age of 24 in the Australian Major, will face her compatriot Fiona Ferro (101st) or the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (17th) in the next round.
