The German handball players have the next corona case at the European Championship.
After backcourt player Julius Kühn, Hendrik Wagner, who was only nominated for Kühn the day before, also tested positive for the corona virus, as the German Handball Association (DHB) announced.
Since Wagner only came to the German team hotel in Bratislava on Sunday and has since isolated himself, he has not had any contact with his teammates or the rest of the German delegation so far.
"I no longer understand the world," said Wagner.
"I'm physically fine at the moment, but the last few hours have been an emotional rollercoaster ride."
Like Kühn, the 24-year-old Wagner from the second division club Eulen Ludwigshafen is now in isolation.
When or if he will still be used at the European Championship is unclear for the time being.
According to the tournament rules, he must now remain in quarantine for at least five days, then he could test himself freely.
The DHB selection, which has already qualified for the main round, will play their final preliminary round game against Poland on Tuesday (6 p.m., TV: ZDF).
»I'm sorry that Hendrik Wagner was slowed down like that.
I hope that the infection will be mild for him," said DHB sports director Axel Kromer.
It was initially unclear whether national coach Alfred Gíslason would be nominated again.
The corona pandemic is one of the topics of the European Handball Championships in Hungary and Slovakia.
After the opening win against Belarus, Gíslason was surprised at the lack of corona regulations: "I'm curious to see how this tournament will continue.
When you see that there are 20,000 at a game in Budapest and no one wears a mask, you have to see how that goes,” Gíslason had said.
