History: The skier who lost her leg participated in the World Championships for the first time Israel today

Sheina and Sefi made history when she participated in the combined competition and became the first Israeli to compete in the World Paralympic Ski Championships • On Thursday she will compete in the giant slalom end


Today (Monday), Paralympic skier Sheina and Sefi became the first Israeli athlete to participate in the World Paralympic Ski Championships, this time in Lillehammer, Norway, when she participated in the combined competition (slalom and Super G).

Vespi started the competition on the Super G track, a fast track with crowded flags that allows for a lot of speed, and managed to reach the finish line even though she stumbled right on the finish line and achieved a time of 1: 36.03 minutes.

At the end of this stage, the Israeli was ranked seventh overall, after some surfers retired or failed to reach the finish line.

In the second part of the competition, the thresholds of the competition in the slalom track, which is the slowest but also the most technical track, where pairs of flags move closer to each other with a dense layout, where she missed one of the goals and was eliminated from the competition.

The gold medal was won by Russia and Rabba Verontskinka in a total time of 1: 58.72 minutes. 

On Thursday, Safi will compete in the giant slalom end.

And on Sunday next week in the Parallel end, a profession that does not appear in the Paralympic Games, but only in the World Championships where two competitors slide side by side in parallel. 

And Sefi, who grew up in Yesod HaMaala, had a serious car accident when she was 3 and a half years old and as a result lost her leg, and after rehabilitation, a relative introduced her to the Erez Association which helps children and youth with disabilities and they are the ones who introduced her to the ski world. 

In recent years, the industry has become the center of her life, starting to reach the highest levels and competing when wearing a skirt because of her art, and in a month and a half, she will also be on track at the Paralympic Winter Olympics and be the first ever to do so.
