The new judo season will kick off this week (Thursday) for the athletes of the industry in Israel, with the judo festival being held for the seventh time at the Icemol Mall in Eilat, with the participation of the best athletes from around the country.
The competition, which has already become a tradition, will be divided into several parts, when on the opening day there will be an Israeli team championship, on Friday they will compete in the Union Cup tournament and will end on Saturday with an open event with the Israeli team.
The athletes will make their way south to Eilat starting Wednesday, to a number of hotels, where the entire competition will adhere to the rules of the green mark and antigen tests will be performed and if verified judoka is found, it will be sent for insulation to hotel rooms.
At the end of the month, the international competition season will also begin with the Grand Prix in Portugal, in which no less than 19 Israeli athletes will take part, with the women's team coming almost in its strong lineup, including the Olympic medalists while men will participate in the young athletes who now want to break into the Paris 2024 campaign.
At the beginning of February, the senior men's athletes will also enter the competition circle, all before continuing to the Tel Aviv Grand Slam that month and for the main goals of the year with the World and European Championships.
Judo Association chairman Moshe Ponti said: "We are embarking on a new Olympic campaign, on the one hand we have a line of athletes who have achieved impressive results in recent years and we have managed to maintain the Olympic medal tradition with bronze in the team competition in Tokyo and on the other a line of talented young athletes.
