Figure skaters Aliona Savchenko and Bruno Massot won gold for Germany at the 2018 Olympics.

A documentary about it is now celebrating its premiere, but Savchenko is not completely satisfied.

Berlin - Figure skater Aliona Savchenko never doubted her success at the 2018 Olympic Games.

That's what the 37-year-old said at the premiere of the documentary "The Freestyle of Her Life" in the Babylon cinema in Berlin-Mitte.

There were "difficult moments" where we said we'd stop, Savchenko said.

But her partner Bruno Massot and she have come too far to give up.

"Sometimes with Alyona I felt like I was in the army," says Massot in the film.

It also happened that the two did not speak to each other for a week.

"I'm determined and if I've set myself a goal, I want to achieve it," said the figure skater on Monday in an interview with the German Press Agency.

"If you want to create something good, you have to be tough on yourself."

The approximately 80 minutes of the film also show that, days full of arguments and resentment.

In hindsight, Savchenko wasn't always happy with how she looks in the film.

Maybe she should have shown herself differently, said the native Ukrainian.

The viewers in the cinema seemed to be particularly touched by the documentary film in Berlin.

When the winner's choice flickered across the screen, there were tears in the eyes of Savchenko and her former coach Alexander König, who was also present at the premiere.

Eva was also in the audience - Savchenko is the 12-year-old's great role model.

She herself also dreams of the Olympics: "Who doesn't want that?" She brought her skates to the film premiere in the hope that Savchenko would sign them for her.

The figure skater then fulfilled the wish.
