The explosion of Philippe Boutron's vehicle on December 30 in Saudi Arabia caused a lot of talk. The National Anti-Terrorist Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) has opened a preliminary investigation. But, no French investigator has been able to get to Jeddah at the moment.

The days pass and the investigation does not progress.

According to France Info, negotiations are underway so that a team from the DGSI (the General Directorate of Internal Security) can go to the scene.

But, for twenty days, this has been very difficult on the diplomatic and judicial level.

Consequently, no one has yet visited the site of the explosion which seriously injured the French pilot Philippe Boutron, of the Sodicars team, in both legs.

The national anti-terrorist prosecution, for its part, opened a preliminary investigation since January 4.

It has not yet been able to examine the elements available to the Saudi authorities.

Investigators must go to the scene to view and work around the Frenchman's vehicle to see if traces of explosives are visible.

On Saturday January 1, three days after the explosion, the Saudi authorities dismissed the trail of a “

criminal

” act. The organizers had previously explained that they did not exclude a "

malicious act

" and, according to an AFP journalist, security has been greatly reinforced around the bivouac of the rally-raid. In a tweet, the Saudi Interior Minister dismissed any "

criminal suspicion

" to explain this "

accident

".

A week after the accident, Benoit Boutron, the injured pilot's son, told RMC radio that his father was "

out of a coma

".

At present, his relatives still have no answers to their questions and the investigators are waiting to be able to go to Jeddah.
