He stands for the new Hallbergmooser defensive strength: Andreas Giglberger, previously on the flanks.

Now he is the "aggressive leader" in the center.

Hallbergmoos

- Giglberger (28) came to Hallbergmoos in the summer of 2017 and has since played 90 games (eight goals) in the state or Bavarian league. After his move from the then Bavarian league club Heimstetten, he was always seeded and mostly kicked on the flanks, sometimes offensively, but usually defensively with an urge to go forward. However, he emphasizes that his real home on the pitch is the centre: "When I was young at Wacker Burghausen I played on the six." There he was trained in the U17 Bundesliga and the U19 Bayernliga.

Giglberger is a team player through and through, which is why he would basically play anywhere he can help the team.

"I can't have much influence on the outside positions," says Giglberger, who already played central defender in the back three and has now been promoted to chief of defense after other defenders had to pass due to injuries or poor form.

Unforgotten: His overhead kick, which prevented a safe goal from being conceded

"I'm a thoroughbred footballer," says Giglberger, who exemplifies emotion and commitment.

Symbolic of Giglberger's insane preliminary round is the overhead kick, with which he prevented a safe goal from being conceded in the 2-1 win in Dachau.

The 28-year-old wants to go ahead with commitment: "Without passion, there is no playfulness.

And even in training there has to be fire.” The defender doesn't see himself as a decisive factor, but emphasizes the progress in the team: “We've now understood that we all have to work backwards.

In the last few games, everyone marched for everyone.” That should now be the basis in the second half of the season to tackle the non-relegation places from a relegation place.

The 28-year-old says: "VfB has become my footballing home."

Another central defender is now available in player-coach Matthias Strohmaier.

Andreas Giglberger is looking forward to the new boss, "because he will take us further in terms of play".

The 28-year-old says: "VfB has become my footballing home." He has now turned his hobby into his job.

At the International Football Institute in Ismaning, the defender works on the same team as sporting director Anselm Küchle.

In the future he also sees himself in the coaching business, for which Giglberger is already working on the B license.

As an injured player, he took over the video analysis in Hallbergmoos.

I like coaching,” says Giglberger.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The question of whether he will eventually move up to the coaching team is not yet an issue for him.

After two years with injury and pandemic breaks, Giglberger would like to catch up on the pitch - "and actually I would like to play football actively until the four is in front at my age."
