In the 2007/08 season, TSV 1860 Munich made it into the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup for the last time.

14 years later, the lions have the chance again.

Munich

- After being 2-0 down, they still won 3-2: what TSV 1860 managed to do against Wehen Wiesbaden at the weekend, the Löwen also managed to do last time they made it into the DFB Cup quarter-finals.

For 82 minutes on January 29, 2008, Alemannia Aachen looked like the sure winner of the DFB Cup round of 16.

But the team coached by Marco Kurz turned the game upside down with three goals within five minutes.

Goals from Danny Schwarz in the 83rd minute, Mustafa Kučuković in the 85th minute and Fabian Johnson in the 88th minute made the six-pronged team cheer.

1860 reached the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup for the last time in the club's history.

TSV 1860: 19 coach changes between Marco Kurz and Michael Köllner

There, however, it was over for the lions in the last big Munich derby. In a memorable duel, TSV lost 1-0 to their eternal nemesis FC Bayern. Franck Ribéry only scored the decisive goal in the 120th minute with a highly controversial penalty kick. 14 years later on January 18, 2022, coach Michael Köllner's team has another chance to reach the round of eight in the highest German club cup.

A lot has happened at the lions since 2008.

Hasan Ismaik joined the traditional Munich club as an investor, 1860 has meanwhile been relegated to the regional league and is currently playing in the 3rd division.

There were 19 coaching changes between Marco Kurz and Michael Köllner.

That's the short summary.
