Now it's time: Dorfen (black) and Erding cross bats twice in the relegation round.

The qualifying round in the Bavarian ice hockey league is over, now the field is divided into promotion and relegation rounds.

Erding/Dorfen – With the Erding Gladiators and the ESC Dorfen, both district clubs find themselves in the relegation round, which starts with seven clubs, while the “neighbors” EHC Klostersee and EHC Waldkraiburg with six other clubs are fighting for promotion to the Oberliga battle.

Start is next Friday.

This means two lucrative games are lost.

but there is still "the mother of all derbies".

In the qualifying round, the Gladiators twice had the upper hand against the Ice Pirates.

3:0 in the first leg in Erding and 8:4 in the second leg in Dorfen, which was much tighter than the result says.

Shortly before the end of the qualifying round, the clubs had already received a placement key, so that the clubs already knew when they had to play whom on Sunday evening.

Actually.

Because on Monday everything was different again.

At the online league conference of the Bavarian leagues, league leader and chairman Frank Butz from the Bavarian Ice Sports Association (BEV) explained that "the error devil had crept in".

He apologized to everyone for the technical problems that had occurred and asked for their understanding for the necessary re-creation.

Both district clubs start with a home game on Friday. The ESC Dorfen welcomes the ESC Geretsried, the Erding Gladiators meet the ERV Schweinfurt. On Sunday, the Gladiators are guests at the River Rats in Geretsried, the Ice Pirates are off play. The last day of the game takes place on March 13th, with the Dorfen home game against ERV Schweinfurt and the Erdinger home game against VfE Ulm/Neu-Ulm. For the clubs that are in places one to three, the season is then over. The other four clubs play playdowns - first fourth versus seventh and fifth versus sixth. The two losers then determine who is relegated to the Landesliga.

The two derbies will take place in Erding on Friday, February 4th and in Dorfen on Friday, March 4th.

It is obvious that the Ice Pirates are eager for revenge for the two defeats.

Dorfen's coach Franz Steer has already made a challenge to his Erdinger colleague Thomas Vogl after the recent 4:8 defeat.

"We'll see each other again," he said with a grim look at the end of the press conference.
