The senators voted again on Tuesday for an amendment prohibiting the wearing of the veil during a sports competition, as they had already done during the controversial bill on separatism, which had then been erased by the Assembly.
This vote took place within the framework of the examination of the bill on sport examined Tuesday and Wednesday in the Senate.
It includes measures on the governance of federations and on the possibility wanted by French football to create a commercial company to manage its TV rights.
The LR amendment was adopted by 160 votes in favor and 143 against.
It prohibits “
the wearing of conspicuous religious symbols
” during “
sporting events and sports competitions organized by sports federations and affiliated associations
”.
LR senators tabled a bill on the subject in December.
The Minister for Sports, Roxana Maracinenau, gave an unfavorable opinion on this amendment and highlighted the republican contract of engagement, resulting from the separatism law precisely, which must now sign the federations and associations.
The senators also voted for an LR amendment aimed at avoiding "
certificates of convenience
" allowing to be exempted from Physical Education and Sports (EPS) for reasons other than medical.
The government failed before the right-wing Senate to restore the measure of full parity in the sports federations, voted in the Assembly.
Senator Olivier Paccaud (attached to LR) was moved that the measure led to “

The former PS Sports Minister, Patrick Kanner, immediately retorted: "

The senators rejected the government's deletion amendment but tweaked the measure, limiting the obligation to the shower and removing the locker rooms.
They also rejected a government amendment which wanted to extend physical activity adapted to people with loss of autonomy.
The rapporteur for the text, Michel Savin (LR), pleaded for prescription sport, which is not covered by social security, to already be.
