Germany's best tennis player Alexander Zverev expects at the Australian Open that more participating professionals will be infected with the corona virus than previously known.
“We're not being tested.
If we were tested, there would probably be more positives than now," said the Olympic champion on Wednesday.
He believes that "certainly some" players are already infected.
Frenchman Ugo Humbert had previously announced that he had tested positive after losing in the first round of the Grand Slam tournament.
He is therefore staying in Melbourne for another week and is isolated.
Australian professional Bernard Tomic caused a stir when he suggested the chair umpire bet on his own corona infection - two days before Tomic actually tested positive.
"This year there will be many more cases in Australia than last year, it's as simple as that," said Zverev: "We can go outside to eat, we can do what we want.
So I think it's normal for more people to get COVID." He's reducing his time in public to prevent infection.
