Danny Abdia with Washington Wizards fans (from the Wizards' Twitter)

Even in the midst of a shaky period, Danny Abdia is learning an important lesson: in a demanding and cruel league like the NBA, one should pounce on every opportunity.

That's exactly what he did tonight (Wednesday-Thursday), in Washington's home game against Brooklyn.

The 48-hour continuous bench and departure from the rotation in the win over Philadelphia, the Israeli forward returned to the rotation, received 23 minutes from interim coach Joseph Blair, and finished with 13 points (4 of 7 from the field including 2 of 3 from the three, and 3 of 3 from the penalty line ), 5 rebounds, 3 assists, steals and blocks.

Neither Abdia's output nor the Wizards' display of character, which nearly wiped out a 16-point deficit in the second half, ultimately prevented a 119-118 loss, after a drama in the closing seconds including Kyle Kozma and Spencer Dinvidi's fouls in the final offense, and one bizarre incident in the fourth quarter. The Nets "snatched" a ball for Washington at a crucial moment without the referee noticing.

The congestion in Washington's full staff after the return of the wounded and sick also led to difficult decisions tonight.

Instead of Abdia and Davis Bartans, those who came out of the rotation tonight were mostly Raul Neto and Aron Holiday.

Abdia jumped off the bench 4 minutes before the end of the first quarter, and immediately signaled for the positive evening that was about to come with a block on James Harden and a rebound and assist on the other side.

Abdia stayed on the floor for 14 consecutive minutes and finished the first half with 7 points, but that did not stop the Wizards from chasing the Nets, with Kyrie Irving and Marcus Aldridge showing all their impressive offensive repertoire and bringing the visitors down with a double-digit lead at the break.

In the third quarter the advantage had already climbed to 16, but Washington woke up and slowly got back to business, with Abdia also taking part in a comeback with good defensive passes against Harden, and 6 more points including a nice three from a dribble after throwing Patti Mills over him.

At the same time, the last minutes, the temporary coach Blair chose to pass with the quintet that has won quite a few close games this season, and does not include its loss.

Half a minute to go, his plan seemed to work, after Kozma sniped a big three that narrowed the gap to just a point.

During the next Arden was blocked by Monterz Harle and the Wizards were given a chance to steal a win, but this time Kozma's three went out, and neither did Spencer Dinvidi's next shot come in.

Brooklyn ended up celebrating a third win in five games (and the first since the injury that sidelined Kevin Durant) and climbed to a 16:28 balance, having mostly enjoyed an excellent Kyrie Irving game that ended with 39 points and 7 assists.

Marcus Aldridge had the X Factor with 27 points off the bench, while James Harden settled for 18 with just 7 of 21 from the field, but also contributed 9 assists (vs. 8 turnovers) and 8 rebounds.

Washington was again led by Bradley Bill with 23 alongside 9 assists, with besides Danny Abdia (who scored in double digits for the first time after eight games), four other players finishing in double figures: Kozma (16), Roy Hachimura and Monterz Harrl (14 each) and Dinwiddy (11 alongside 5 assists).

The Wizards, who dropped to a 22:23 balance, will try to win again in the next game, on the night between Friday and Saturday against Toronto at home.
