The participants in the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup have been determined.
But the draw comes with the next surprise - the lots will be drawn later than usual.
Munich/Cologne - Only two games left until the final in Berlin.
FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund are already out.
In the DFB Cup*, eight teams, including some big surprises, are still hoping for the big coup.
Four Bundesliga clubs and four second division clubs are still in the draw.
But the teams have to be patient a little longer.
The draw in the DFB Cup will be made later than usual, as the ARD sports show began.
The reason could be a collision with another sporting event.
DFB Cup: draw for the quarter-finals postponed - overlap with handball EM
The DFB Cup draw will take place on Sunday, January 30th as part of the Sportschau broadcast, which starts at 7:15 p.m.
Normally, the lots should have been drawn a week earlier, i.e. just a few days after the last cup round last Tuesday and Wednesday.
But there is no hurry anyway, because the quarter-finals in the DFB Cup will not be played until March 1st and 2nd.
The ARD broadcast planners probably had to reschedule at short notice.
Germany is in the main round of the European Handball Championship and will meet Sweden next Sunday, January 23 at 6 p.m.
At that point, the draw in the DFB Cup was actually planned.
Incidentally, there is no longer any allocation to pots in the quarter-finals, every encounter is possible.
The team drawn first plays at home.
It was not initially known who would draw the lots.
DFB-Pokal: The draw promises pure excitement - the top favorites have already been eliminated
The DFB Cup has rarely promised as much excitement as this year.
FC Bayern was defeated by Borussia Mönchengladbach 5-0 in the second round.
The foals, on the other hand, experienced their miracle at the second division side Hannover 96 and lost 0:3.
Defending champions Borussia Dortmund also got a 2-1 draw in St. Pauli against a club from the 2nd division.

Apart from KSC, HSV and Hannover, none of the eight quarter-finalists have won the title since 1992.
30 years ago, Hannover were the only second division team in DFB Cup history to surprise.
The complete quarter-finals in the DFB Cup can be seen live on Sky.
One game can also be shown by Sport1, up to two are broadcast on ARD.
