Good news for Israeli sports: Two athletes received citizenship Israel today

Good news for Israeli sports.

The Athletics Association announced today (Thursday) that the Ministry of the Interior has approved the immigrants, natives of the country, Emanuel Aussie Osen and Darlene Asante, to receive Israeli citizenship and will soon be able to wear the national team uniform. 

The 19-year-old Osan, who competes mainly in the short runs and the Israeli Youth Championship last year, set his personal best in the 100-meter dash with 10.87 seconds, while the much more diverse athletic Asante last year also took part in the Israeli Cadet Championship in the 7th. 

The news came after Athletics Association CEO Gal Levy last month forwarded citizenship applications to the Ministry of Culture and Sports on behalf of the five athletes: Emanuel Aussie Osen, Jamal Abdelmaji, Malka, Daniel Molusht and Darlene Asante.   

Two of them even participated in the Tokyo Olympics as members of the refugee team, when Abdelmaji, a Sudanese asylum seeker who escaped the genocide in Darfur, competed in the 5,000-meter dash and a whip that fled Eritrea seven years ago and was smuggled into Israel via the Sinai Marathon.

The Athletics Association said: "The association would like to thank the Ministry of Culture and Sports for the prompt treatment of the matter, and the Ministry of the Interior for the excellent decision to approve the requests of Emanuel Aussie Osen and Darlene Asante. These two great athletes represented Israel in the coming years The U18 will be held in Jerusalem and for the first time in the country, while Aussen is supposed to represent Israel in the U23 competitions. "
