Barcelona want to get rid of Dembele
FC Barcelona wants to get rid of former Dortmund Bundesliga professional Ousmane Dembélé in winter.
After his ultimatum for a contract extension, coach Xavi deleted the Frenchman from the squad for the cup round of 16 in the evening (9:30 p.m.) at Athletic Bilbao.
"It's obvious to us that the player doesn't want to stay in Barcelona and doesn't feel committed to Barça's future," football director Mateu Alemany said on club TV.
"We have told him and his agents that he must leave immediately because we want dedicated players and we hope a transfer will happen before January 31."
Dembélé's contract expires in the summer, so the club, which is indebted to 1.35 billion euros, can only collect a transfer fee in the current transfer period.
The later world champion switched from BVB to Barcelona in 2017 for a three-digit million euro transfer fee.
Schalke lends Becker to Rostock
Second division club Schalke 04 is lending its central defender Timo Becker (24) to league rivals Hansa Rostock until the end of the season.
"It's extremely important for Timo to be able to gain match practice at the highest possible level," said sporting director Rouven Schröder.
Becker's contract runs until mid-2023, most recently he played no role with coach Dimitrios Grammozis.

US talent Che on the way to Hoffenheim
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is about to sign US talent Justin Che.
According to the specialist magazine »Kicker«, the 18-year-old will initially be loaned out by FC Dallas until 2023.
After that there should be a purchase option.
Che had already been loaned to FC Bayern Munich in the second half of last season and had played eight third division games in the second team.
Gladbach's Hannes Wolf on loan to Swansea City
Borussia Mönchengladbach will apparently loan Hannes Wolf to the English second division club Swansea City.
This is reported by the »kicker« and the »Rheinische Post«.
The Austrian was signed in the summer of 2020 as the dream player of the then coach Marco Rose for almost ten million euros.
Under successor Adi Hütter, the offensive player no longer plays a role.
Sports director Max Eberl had recently indicated that something could happen to Wolf in the next few days.
