Handball Bundesliga club TuS Metzingen has announced that players at the club discovered two hidden cameras in their locker room earlier this week.
After the club had informed the police, a person from the immediate vicinity of the team was identified who is now under strong suspicion.
The cooperation with this person was immediately terminated.
"This disgusting act - also by a direct person of trust - is just shocking and has affected us all very much," said manager Ferenc Rott.
He was "impressed" by the solidarity of the players and their joint decision to play the game against SG BBM Bietigheim.
TuS lost this on Wednesday 8:32 p.m. (1:20 p.m.).
Support from the police, association and competition
"We won't let something like that get us down - and the fact that the team wants to play handball again immediately is a very strong signal," Rott continued.
"During this difficult time, we received a lot of support from the police, the association and other teams.
That helps, of course, and we thank you for that.«
The Handball Bundesliga Women (HBF) reacted "shocked" and assured TuS "full support".
"We condemn this reprehensible act in the strongest possible terms," it said in a statement on Thursday.
"Such a criminal act contradicts all the values that we as HBF represent together with our clubs."
Already incident in Buchholz
A similar case had already become known in the Handball Bundesliga last week: Last September, before the game between HL Buchholz 08-Rosengarten and SG BBM Bietigheim, cameras were discovered in the cabins of both teams.
The police had confirmed corresponding research by the "Winsener Anzeiger".
