Former BVB goalscorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has given the all-clear after medical examinations because of his recent heart problems.
'I came back to London to do some additional research.
I'm very happy to say that my heart is fine and I'm healthy," wrote the Arsenal forward on social media.
According to the Gabon Football Association, Aubameyang and compatriot Mario Lemina were sent back to Europe from the Africa Cup of Nations due to heart problems and missed the second group game of the selection.
The former Dortmund soccer professional had tested positive for the corona virus a week ago.
His teammates Axel Méyé (IR Tanger) and Mario Lemina (OGC Nice) did not play against Ghana on Friday for the same reasons.
The African continental association CAF had identified the problems during an investigation.
"According to the Caf's medical commission, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Axel Méyé and Mario Lemina will not be able to take part in the game.
The tests revealed heart problems.
The Caf doesn't want to take any risks," said Gabon's football association.
However, there had also been reports that the two professionals had allegedly been excluded for misconduct.
Aubameyang had rejected this on Twitter, and Lemina, who plays for OGC Nice, also objected to the allegations.
“We have no clarity from the association.
It's our duty to medically ensure that the player is safe," Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said.
According to Gabon's federation, something unusual had been found in the hearts of the national players.
Any player who was previously infected with Corona at the continental tournament must complete a medical examination before returning.
The Africa Cup of Nations takes place in Cameroon until February 6th.
