The Santos and Brazil legend is said to be suffering from widespread cancer. Last September, Pelé, 81, had already been operated on for a tumor

For several years, the state of health of Pelé, 81, has raised concerns and questions.

This week, the football legend made a brief two-day stint at Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo.

According to the ESPN Brazil television channel, the Brazilian is suffering from generalized cancer and multiple tumors.

Pelé underwent a new series of chemotherapy sessions before returning home, but new medical treatment should not be long in coming.

ESPN Brazil claims that the star's condition has deteriorated considerably in recent months and that the colon tumor diagnosed in September 2021 (and successfully operated on at the end of September) was only the beginnings of generalized cancer.

The former Santos and Seleção striker, three-time World Cup winner, is now said to be suffering from a tumor in the intestine, one in the liver and the start of a third in the lung. During the month of December, he had been hospitalized in intensive care for a few days before being sent back to his home to enjoy the end of year celebrations with his family.

To cut short the rumors and try to reassure the Brazilian population about the condition of their mythical elder, the doctors who follow Pelé in the hospital have published a press release.

The patient was discharged on Thursday and is in clinically stable condition.
