After the clap in Munich, the basketball players of TSV Jahn Freising are looking ahead.

There could even be ten players on board against ESV Staffelsee.

Freising

– After the clear defeats against the Bayernliga top teams MTV Munich and TS Jahn Munich in the past English week, the basketball players of TSV Jahn Freising are waiting for the next strong opponent: against ESV Staffelsee on Saturday evening, the hosts from Freising see themselves more in the outsider role. Due to Corona, the game will take place without spectators.

Even if the two most recent defeats of the Jahn basketball players were to be expected, a slap like the 51:109 on Wednesday evening at leader Jahn Munich still has to be processed first.

And because the tasks are not getting any easier in view of the game against Staffelsee, Jahn coach Michael Buhl is currently not to be envied for his job.

He hopes that his team will not lose their enthusiasm and motivation and will classify the past matches as a training session.

Coach Buhl: "We mustn't hang our heads now."

Although Freising clearly lost the first leg 65:88 and looked anything but good, Buhl has more confidence in his team this time.

“Staffelsee has very strong players in all positions.

But despite the defeats in the games against the two Munich teams, we had good phases of the game.

We must not hang our heads now.”

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The fact that the Freisinger basket hunters are in the middle of a relegation battle has to do with the personnel bottlenecks.

Most recently, Buhl had just eight players available.

"It may look like we'll be able to play against Staffelsee with ten players for the first time in a long time," the Jahn head coach spreads cautious optimism.

Young players are getting better and better

Positive: Lukas Schwankner's injury didn't turn out to be that serious - he was able to play again on Wednesday against TS Jahn Munich. The newcomer has developed into an indispensable performer over the course of the season. And the two up-and-coming players Lars Schraml and Gabriel Makumpa are also gaining momentum. Schraml was an asset in the team against both MTV and Jahn Munich. Sebastian Brejc had to sit out on Wednesday evening due to gastrointestinal problems. “I hope Sebastian gets fit again. He's a type of player who doesn't give up easily," says Buhl. He is also happy that he was able to motivate Sorin Sabau from the Jahn U20 team to play in the Bayernliga team. "He was there for the first time against Jahn Munich, has settled into the team very well and has done a good job,” emphasizes Buhl. He also wants to draw on the talent in the next few games.

Against ESV Staffelsee, the main thing is that the team plays well.

This is important to gain self-confidence for the next matches.
