The Ski World Cup stops in Kitzbühel.

The DSV stars fight with their form.

The legendary Streif descent on Friday at 11.30 a.m. in the live ticker.

+++ UPDATE +++

Streif descent in Kitzbühel: the intermediate result

1. Alexander Aamodt Kilde (NOR)

1.55.92

2. Matthias Mayer (AUT)

+0.67

3. Marco Odermatt (SUI)

+0.78

Andreas Sander:

The next DSV star.

Sander recently struggled with his form and skipped the Wengen descent.

The confidence just isn't there.

The backlog grows and grows.

Tenth place, almost two seconds behind.

Two weeks before the Olympics, Sander is still looking for the right feeling, but according to ARD expert Felix Neureuther, it's just small things.

Marco Odermatt:

The overall World Cup leader wants his first win in the downhill.

A week ago in Wengen he was close in second place.

What's in today?

He brings his technical strengths into the corners here - half a second behind at the time.

Then he gave it his all again - third place.

Matthieu Bailet: The first fall!

The Frenchman couldn't stand the pressure and slid into the safety net.

Baillet cried out in frustration, but luckily he didn't appear to be seriously injured.

Alexander Aamodt Kilde:

The Norwegian drives almost perfectly and is brutally fast.

He knows how to corner.

Ouch, then it almost drives him out.

But he can hold his ground - first place.

Bryce Bennett:

The US boy gives everything, but often has to take countermeasures - fifth place.

Beat Feuz:

The Swiss won both Streif races last year - and he's doing really well today too.

However, due to the fresh snow, the track seems to be getting faster and faster.

But then he blunders twice and loses a lot of time - half a second ahead becomes half a second behind.

Finally third place.

Martin Cater:

The Slovenian loses a lot of time early on - fifth place ahead of Baumann.

Matthias Mayer:

Announcement from the Austrian!

It's getting faster and faster, he has to make some corrections on the target jump, but remains stable.

First place by four tenths.

Travis Ganong:

The American risks everything and is really fast - 1st place.

Dominik Paris:

The Italian has a mixed ride and ends up behind DSV ace Romed Baumann.

Daniel Hemetsberger:

The Austrian is ahead in the intermediate part, but he has to correct the jump significantly and slows down.

But it's still enough for first place.

Vincent Kriechmayr:

The next Austrian.

After the first intermediate times, Kriechmayr and Baumann are almost equal.

But the DSV ace has played out its gliding qualities in the upper part and is ahead.

The Austrian drives very smoothly and is really fast.

1st place - more than half a second ahead of Baumann.

Romed Baumann:

The first DSV hope is directly second.

The speed is right.

Baumann is now clearly in the lead, what a journey!

He also masters the jump on the local mountain.

1st place - 1.57 seconds ahead of Franz. What will this time be enough for in the end?

START into the Streif descent: Max Franz is the first to start.

Unfortunately, the Mausefalle was canceled today because the wind was too strong, which is more reminiscent of a Super-G than a descent.

The Austrian made a few technical mistakes.

After the jump he had to make a slight correction.

Update from January 21, 11:28 a.m .:

The former world-class skier Marcel Hirscher made a mini-comeback on the Streif - albeit as a precursor.

The former "zigzag driver", who competed in the technical disciplines before his career ended in 2019, even had to listen to scorn and ridicule.

Update from January 21, 11:15 a.m.:

Let's take a look at the start list.

The Austrian Max Franz opens the legendary Streif downhill, followed by Romed Bauman, the first DSV ace.

So it will be exciting right from the start from a German point of view.

The Norwegian exceptional driver Alexander Aamodt Kilde is in eleventh place, his big opponent Marco Odermatt from Switzerland has the starting number 13.

Then follows the second German with Andreas Sander.

Dominik Schwaiger starts the race in 18th place.

Josef Ferstl, who fell badly in Wednesday's training session, intervenes as 27th and Simon Jocher as 39th.

Streif descent in the live ticker: decisive change shortly before the start

Update from January 21, 10:45 a.m .:

The weather once again thwarts the organizers of the Alpine Ski World Cup in Kitzbühel.

The first of the two descents on the notorious Streif (from 11.30 a.m. here in the live ticker) will be started from the Mausefalle, which is a little lower, in the upper section of the route due to the wind.

This eliminates the extremely steep starting slope.

Because of the expected snowfall, the program had already been changed: the second Hahnenkamm downhill originally scheduled for Saturday is to be held on Sunday.

Instead, the slalom on the Ganslernhang was brought forward by one day to Saturday.

Streif descent in the live ticker: German Kitzbühel winner railed against Streif organizers

Update from January 21, 10.40 a.m .:

Josef Ferstl regrets that this year’s Hahnenkamm race in Kitzbühel will not host a Super-G and instead a second descent.

"It's a shame," said the 33-year-old before the first descent.

"I'm not a proponent of double downhills or double Super-G's in places.

Personally, I don't think that's good for our sport."

For him, “a race weekend with Super-G on Fridays, downhill on Saturdays and slalom on Sundays is just awesome,” says Ferstl.

"That's part of it for me.

The Super-G is a very, very difficult discipline.

You don't have a training run, you have to drive intuitively, it's very exciting." In January 2019, the DSV star won the more winding of the two speed disciplines on the legendary Streif.

Streif descent in the live ticker: German Kitzbühel winner despite a bloody fall at the start

Update from January 21, 10:30 a.m.:

In an hour, the ski racers will plunge down the legendary Streif.

Josef Ferstl will also be there.

The DSV star suffered bloody injuries in a fall during training on Wednesday and had to be flown to the hospital by helicopter.

No problem for "Pepi" Ferstl, he doesn't want to miss the Hahnenkamm race.

"The problem is the back and the muscles on the entire left side.

She suffered a severe bruise from the fall," said the athlete from SC Hammer.

The training on Thursday "worked well".

Ferstl prepares for the race with physiotherapy and water aerobics, among other things, and is "ready".

Preliminary report

: Kitzbühel - The next double pack in the downhill in the Ski World Cup.

On Friday, at 11.30 a.m. and Sunday, there will be two shot rides on the notorious Streif in Kitzbühel.

On the last winter sports weekend there were two more downhill runs in Wengen - the German ski aces want to do better this time at the legendary Hahnenkamm race two weeks before the Olympics than they did a week ago.

Streif downhill in the live ticker: DSV stars want the next surprise at the Hahnenkamm race

The German results on the Streif from previous years give the DSV team courage.

Andreas Sander and Romed Baumann each raced into the top 5 in the 2021 downhills, Josef Ferstl won the Super-G in 2019.

That should "give a boost of motivation", believes men's national coach Christian Schwaiger.

The piste was "excellent - challenging and really cool," said Baumann after training.

He still has to get used to the new entrance to the traverse, which has been slightly modified by a terrain correction.

He regretted that the character of the route had changed as a result - just like Ferstl.

In general, however, Baumann is "ready" for the Streif.

"I look forward to it."

In the first practice, the Norwegian Alexander Aamodt Kilde was the fastest, in the second the South Tyrolean Christof Innerhofer.

The races on the Streif are the most famous ski descents in the world - the winner of the day collects 100,000 euros in prize money.

Streif descent in Kitzbühel in the live ticker: Hahnenkamm race with spectators

Even if the atmosphere will have nothing to do with the one you have been used to in Kitzbühel for years.

Some 50,000 fans were there every day - including plenty of celebrities.

Unlike last year's ghost races, 1000 spectators are allowed this time - despite the comparatively high seven-day incidence.

You have to "set an example," said the President of the Kitzbühel Ski Club, Michael Huber, about the partial approval.

The event is something like a “national cultural asset.” But again there will be no big party or VIP temple in the finish area.

Caution is the top priority.

On the route.

And next to it.

Ferstl had a bad fall in training on Wednesday, but wants to start despite bloody injuries.
