Decimated Tölzer Löwen cannot pose a threat to Frankfurt and lose 2:7.

Frankfurt – Severe rebuff for the Tölzer Löwen: With a score of 2:7 they were beaten by the Löwen Frankfurt on Friday evening.

Kevin Gaudet's decimated team was shown its limits in almost all areas by the DEL 2, third in the table, and could not keep up in duels, in terms of speed, pass accuracy and attack combinations.

Too small to bite

A defeat was already indicated in the first third, when the guests were already 0:3 behind after a good quarter of an hour.

"The first seven minutes were okay," says coach Kevin Gaudet.

"We even had a couple of chances." But after eight minutes, a "stupid mistake" on the blue line, the Tölzer didn't get the disc out, and Tomas Sykora opened the scoring for the home side.

21:9 shots on goal per Frankfurt paint a realistic picture of the Hessian superiority.

The hapless Jimmy Hertel in the Tölzer Tor fended off 18 attempts, but after the first break things continued in a similar way.

Even the fourth Frankfurt row is strong

Maximilian Faber and Pierre Preto with his second goal made it 5:0.

"It's difficult to survive against Frankfurt with such a small team," says Gaudet.

The Hessians started with four rows, in the fourth storm players like Brett Breitkreuz ran up - "so not a very bad row," says Gaudet laconically.

The Tölzers managed to score a goal through Thomas Brandl in the slot after a thoroughly successful attack.

They even showed a few pleasing combinations – at the end of which, for example, Ian Brady's shot got stuck in the legs of Bastian Kucis, who was lying on the ground.

But the decision was made long ago, 46:22 shots on goal were recorded in the statistics.

When Markus Eberhardt reduced the lead to 2:5 with a flick from the blue line, Frankfurt picked up a bit again.

Preto with goal number three and Sykora with a dust-free second goal made it 7:2.

Lions slip to 10th place

"Frankfurt did well, they deserved to win," says Gaudet.

His Tölzer Löwen slipped down to tenth place after the defeat and Freiburg's victory over Selb at the same time.

On Sunday against Bayreuth they have to try to keep the bottom of the table at bay.
