At the Africa Cup of Nations, the Comoros national football team will have to play hosts Cameroon in the round of 16 on Monday (8 p.m., Stream: DAZN) without a trained goalkeeper.
The reason is a corona outbreak in the surprise team of the tournament.
After regular goalkeeper Salim Ben Boina was injured in the sensational 3-2 win against record-breaking Africa Cup of Nations finalists Ghana, substitutes Moyadh Ousseini and Ali Ahamada have now tested positive as two of a total of seven players.
Coach Amir Abdou also had to be in isolation.
"We're trying to deal with the situation as best we can," said El Hadad Himidi, the team's general manager.
"Without the coach, some important players and the two remaining goalkeepers, the situation is quite difficult."
For the Comoros, reaching the round of 16 at the African Continental Cup is already the greatest success in the history of the national team.
The country is only ranked 132 in the Fifa world rankings and is taking part in the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time.
