That's a good start: The Erding Gladiators won the first relegation round game against ERV Schweinfurt 6:4 on Friday evening.

Erding – Successful start for the Erding Gladiators in the Bayernliga relegation round.

Coach Thomas Vogl's team won 6:4 (3:2, 2:1, 1:1) against ERV Schweinfurt in their home arena on Friday evening.

The Erding fans were looking forward to it, as almost all the players who had been absent due to illness, injury or private reasons were back.

For the first time in weeks, coach Thomas Vogl was able to muster the full band and had three really strong blocks available.

Of the three foreigners, the youngest new signing, Tom Callaghan, had to take a seat in the stands this time, since only two players from the contingent are allowed to play.

The Gladiators then also had the first chances, but the Mighty Dogs scored the first goal: a concealed shot by Jonas Manger landed in the Erdinger Netz to make it 1-0 (5th). The Gladiators now put the pressure on and Schweinfurt's goalkeeper Benedict Roßberg was the focus of attention on several occasions. He was beaten in the 10th minute when Florian Zimmermann completed a one-on-one action to make it 1-1. But the guests were relatively unimpressed. They had already set up their game for counterattacks. And it was just such that Schweinfurt took the lead again when Dennis Ostertag finished completely free (14th). But just under two minutes later, captain Philipp Michl chased the puck into the net to make it 2-2 when Erdinger was outnumbered. When there was a penalty against the Gladiators a little later, Zimmermann closed a break after the Waldhausen pass to make it 3:2 for the hosts from (18th).

However, the Mighty Dogs did not miss the next advantage and a concealed shot by Kevin Marquardt made it 3:3 (26th).

But even the gladiators can do power play.

It only took ten seconds before Michl poked the puck into the net to make it 4:3 (27th).

And when the penalty against Schweinfurt was announced, Marko Babic made it 5:3.

It was back and forth in the final section as well.

Schweinfurt wanted the connection, Erding the decision.

Even when Mark Waldhausen increased the power play to 6:3 (50th), the Mighty Dogs remained snappy, came through Marquardt to 4:6 (57th) and threw everything forward again.

But it wasn't enough anymore.
