Veteran Spaniard Rafael Nadal preserved his 21st chance to win the world's record-breaking Grand Slam title by defeating Frenchman Adrien Mannarino 7-6, 6-2, 6-2 today and qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.
Nadal, 35, shares the current world record (20 titles) with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, the world number one.
Nadal will meet former world number one in the next round with Canadian Denis Shapovalov, who defeated the third seed in the German championship Alexander Zverev in three straight sets today.
