Geretsried/Erding – Coach Thomas Vogl's team made up for a deficit three times to then win 4:3 (1:1, 0:0, 2:2; 1:0) after a penalty shootout.

The outstanding man on the ice was Erding's goalkeeper Christoph Schedlbauer.

Tom Callaghan made his debut in the green and white jersey. The Canadian stormed alongside the Busch/Zimmermann duo, so the Czech David Hrazdira had to take a break.

In the first section, the Gladiators didn't come into play at all.

The Geretsrieders clearly dominated the game and it was primarily thanks to Schedlbauer that it was 0-0 for a long time.

In the 15th minute, however, Erding's keeper had to reach behind him when Benedikt May scored outnumbered.

But exactly 90 seconds later it was 1-1 when a powerful shot from defender Roni Rukajärvi rang in from the blue line behind Martin Morczinietz.

Otherwise, the first section was characterized by many discussions with the four referees, with both sides quarreling.

The two main refs pronounced seven penalties in the first third alone – three against Erding, four against Geretsried.

In the last game against the River Rats, two men from Geretsried ran alone towards Schedlbauer, who, however, fended off brilliantly.

Little changed in the course of the game in the second period, the Vogl protégés only had two good chances through Philipp Michl and Dominik Wagner, while there were chances on the assembly line on the other. The referees were partly to blame from Erdinger's point of view. In the second period only one Geretsrieder had to go, while they awarded six penalties against Erdinger. Shortly before the second break, three Gladiators had to go to the penalty box within just 64 seconds.

The Erdingers started the final third with a 3:5 deficit.

It was survived, and then it got turbulent.

Klaus Berger scored to make it 2-1 for Geretsried (45 '), 89 seconds later Rukajärvi, outnumbered, heaved the puck from the blue line to make it 2-2 into the net, but only 48 seconds later the River Rats were 3-2 ahead - again had met Berger.

However, the goal was preceded by a clear stick hit by a Geretsrieder against Lukas Krämmer, which was not punished.

When an Erdinger had to go to the penalty box, Michl grabbed the disc and completed a great solo to make it 3:3 (53rd).

After goalless extra time, the decision had to be made in a penalty shootout.

Sebastian Busch scored for the Gladiators.

Schedlbauer could not be overcome and thus crowned his sensational performance.
