Dorfen's unsuccessful start in the relegation round

The start for ESC Dorfen in the Bayernliga relegation round went completely wrong.

Dorfen - It was a "Black Friday" for the puck hunters of ESC Dorfen: In the only game of the weekend, the Eispiraten lost 2:5 goals to ESC Geretsried at the start of the relegation round on their own ice.

After the five victories at the end of the Bayernliga qualifying round, the Dorfen camp had hoped for a better start in the struggle for relegation.

Meanwhile, the "epidemic" remained true to the ice pirates with injured and sick player absences.

The defeat was too high compared to the course of the game, because the Ice Pirates were unable to take advantage of the opportunities that opened up at the beginning and at the end of the game.

The extremely strong guest goalkeeper Martin Morczinietz was also lucky enough to hit the post and roll over the crossbar.

Geretsried's new trainer Randy Neal, who was already behind the gang at the ESC, was very satisfied.

"I'm happy to be back in Dorfen and of course I'm even happier that we were able to take the three points at the start of this difficult round," he said.

At the beginning and end of the game, however, his team didn't really find the line, so Dorfen could have scored more than the opening goal.

With the absence of leading players such as Tomas Vrba, Christian Göttlicher, Benedikt Dietrich, Florian Fischer, Florian Hartl and Basti Rosenkranz, "you can no longer tip such a tight game after a few serious individual errors," said Dorfen's coach Franz Steer with regret. He was particularly annoyed by a few completely unnecessary penalties from his second-best scorer Urban Sodja, partly because of complaints. Also, in the duels, you held the disc for too long instead of playing it, only to then lose the duels to the boards. "I can't ask the young people to replace the well-established rows," said the ESC coach.

The visibly upset Dorfen coach did not want to say anything more after his statement in the press conference about the again very difficult situation.

When asked by the reporter from the local newspaper whether the dilemma with the series of injuries and illness-related absences from the workforce seems to be coming to an end, Steer snapped: "Don't ask me, I won't say anything anymore because we can't change it.

You play with other people week after week and you have to improvise the line-ups.” And then Steer got angry: “I can't hear it anymore.

Someone comes, and someone doesn't come, then he calls, then the other calls, I'm only Corona officer and injury officer with us.

You can no longer concentrate on ice hockey itself.”
