Revenge of the 77:78, not what you thought: the numbers generated by the Tel Aviv derby

For the fourth time in history, and the second by Danny Franco, Hapoel Tel Aviv went up to 0: 2 in the league over Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The Reds erased the immortal result (but not because of Varese), and the champion lost for the first time ever 78:77 to an Israeli rival.

The memories from 1977 make the 77:78 a special review, but not for the reason that everyone tends to think about it.

True, that season Maccabi Tel Aviv won the European Champions Cup for the first time in its history, after 77:78 over Mobiljiriji and Arza in the final in Belgrade.

But as far as the Reds are concerned, this is an ancient revenge for another game: in the state cup final of that season, their yellow rival defeated them 77:78 on the way to Treble.

Now, for the first time ever, Maccabi lost to an Israeli rival 78:77 in an official game (while in the European framework it happened to them five times).

By the way, the last time she won this result in the domestic league occurred 26 years ago.
