Serious accident of Egan Bernal, who crashed into a bus north of Bogotá

The Colombian cyclist Egan Bernal is hospitalized at the La Sabana Clinic, in Chía, north of Bogotá, where he was transferred shortly after suffering an accident while training with several Ineos colleagues.

According to the first information, Bernal, 25, suffers fractures in a femur and a patella.

The season of the winner of the Tour of 19 and the Giro of 21, and pretender to the great duel with Tadej Pogacar for the Tour of 22, is seriously compromised.

The doctors who treat him have not yet issued a report nor have they made a prognosis about the cyclist's recovery time.

According to the police report, Bernal, along with several colleagues from Ineos – Daniel Martínez, Carlos Rodríguez, Andrey Amador, Richard Carapaz, Omar Fraile, Jhonatan Narváez and Brandon Rivera – trained on the highway from Bogotá to Tunja, north of the capital. Colombia, when at 10:05 a.m., at the Roble tollbooth in Gachancipá, a bus stopped in front of him for a passenger to get off.

Bernal, who was pedaling his black bicycle and traveling in the same lane, did not notice that the bus stopped and rammed into its rear.
