In 11 days, the Winter Olympics will start, with six representatives competing in blue and white. • Despite the small number of participants, the Israeli Olympic Committee hopes for success

Ten days before the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Beijing, the Israeli Olympic Committee today (Monday) announced the composition of the final delegation, which will include only six athletes, all after closing the criteria in the various industries.

Vladislav Bikanov, the fast skater on the short track, who carried the Israeli flag at the opening ceremony of the 2014 Sochi Olympics, will come to the Games for the third time in his career and compete in all three Olympic distances in the 500, 1000 and 1500 meters.

As in all the games since Israel participated, this time too there will be representation in figure skating, with the men competing Alexei Bichenko, who won the silver medal from the 2016 European Championships, who reached his peak at the last Olympics in South Korea and was ranked 11th.

The sporting doubles competition will feature Yevgeny Krasnopolsky, who is also playing for the third time in a row, with his partner on the ice being Hailey Cops, who managed to meet the criteria with him just three months after the two started training together.

The delegation will be locked by the brothers Noa and Bernbash (Bernie) Solosh in alpine skiing, when Noa won the silver and bronze medal for Israel at the Olympic Youth Games in Lausanne two years ago.

The Winter Olympics, which are being held for the 24th time, will open on February 4, with the participation of about 3,000 athletes from about 90 countries.

The game program includes 109 medal events in 7 different sports in 15 professions.

The entry of seven new competitions, including two women's competitions and four women's and men's mixed competitions, has made Beijing 2022 the most gender-balanced winter games to date with 54.56% men and 45.44% women participating.
