FC Bayern Munich has extended the contract with goalkeeper Lukas Schneller.

The 20-year-old signs a contract until 2024 at Säbener Straße.

Munich

- There's a lot going on with the Bayern amateurs.

After a few newcomers and the departure of Oliver Batista-Meier, FC Bayern extended the contract with the regular keeper of the second team early.

Lukas Schneller signed a new contract with the record champions until 2024.

The 20-year-old is currently in his tenth season with the German champions.

In the current season, however, the native of Munich has only made four appearances in the Bavarian regional league.

Schneller has had to struggle with injuries again and again in recent months.

However, FC Bayern still believes in its own growth.

FC Bayern: Schneller is aiming for direct promotion

"Lukas is a very ambitious young keeper, but unfortunately he was unlucky enough to be injured this season.

However, we are very satisfied with his development as a goalkeeper and believe that he can take the next steps with us," says campus manager Jochen Sauer, explaining the contract extension.

The youngster only celebrated his comeback on the 7th matchday of the Regionalliga Bayern after a foot injury.

In the 2020/21 relegation season, Schneller was between the posts ten times in the 3rd division.

Due to muscular problems, the Munich player dropped out again a little later and injured himself again on his comeback at the end of October.

Schneller is currently making good progress in advanced training, FC Bayern announces on its website.

The goalkeeper talent can hardly wait to play for his club again: "I would like to thank FC Bayern for the trust.

I've gone through all the youth teams here and I'm looking forward to the future at my heart's club in Munich," says Schneller, who announces a big goal for the coming months: "We want to celebrate promotion back to the 3rd division with the amateurs!" For the winter break the small Bavarians are four points behind leaders SpVgg Bayreuth.
