A quarter-final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon has been moved to another stadium after the mass panic that left at least eight people dead.
Patrice Motsepe, president of the continental federation CAF, told a press conference that the game scheduled for Sunday will be played at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium instead of the Stade d'Olembé.
Both arenas are located in the capital Yaoundé.
There will be a meeting of the organizers on Wednesday, according to Motsepe, the report of an investigative commission must be available by Friday.
“When people lose their lives and get hurt, we have to take responsibility together.
There is no excuse for what happened,” Motsepe said.
From now on there will be a minute's silence before all matches in the competition, the CAF is in contact with the families of the victims.
Before the round of 16 between Cameroon and the Comoros (2-1) there was a mass panic on Monday in front of the Stade d'Olembé when spectators apparently wanted to enter the stadium without a ticket.
In addition to eight dead, there were 38 injured.
According to the schedule, a semi-final is also scheduled for the stadium, which could also be relocated.
The association of Cameroon also published a statement.
»We very much regret the dramatic events outside the stadium.
Our sympathy goes to the victims and their families.
We call on the fans to act in a disciplined and responsible manner so that the remaining games can be festive," said Cameroon captain Vincent Aboubakar.
The former FC Porto striker scored the second goal against Comoros.
