The Peissenberger "Miners" clearly lost the first game in the promotion round of the Bayernliga.

Especially in the last third, the team experienced a real drama.

Peißenberg – Six goals are scored on average in ice hockey in the top leagues such as the NHL.

The hit rate in the guest appearance of the Peißenberg "Miners" at ESV Buchloe was significantly higher.

In Peißenberger's first game in the Bayernliga promotion round, the two goals rang a total of 16 times.

However, the puck hit the "Miners" case much more often, who were ultimately sunk by the "Pirates" at 5:11 (1:1, 0:3, 4:7).

“We wanted to keep the game simple and, above all, play consistently in defence.

We didn't manage that," reported assistant coach Sepp Staltmayr, who stood in for the sick coach Christian Kratzmeir.

The completely messed up final third was primarily responsible for the debacle.

"Something like this shouldn't happen," said Staltmayr, horrified by the desolate performance of the "Miners", who conceded seven goals in the last round.

"The opponent got going, and we noticed that we were small," said Staltmayr, looking for the reasons for the biggest loss of the season.

"We had big plans for this," says Staltmayr.

“Miners” had numerous failures

Despite the long list of absentees - including Martin Andrä, Valentin Hörndl and Martin Lidl - the Peißenbergers drove confidently to the Ostallgäu.

In the first few minutes, however, there was little to be seen from the 13 field players of the guests in terms of "body language" of self-confidence.

Only goalkeeper Korbinian Sertl was immediately in competition mode.

That was also important because he had to thwart a couple of good opportunities from the aggressive “Pirates”, who had lost 3:5 at EHC Klostersee two days earlier and were therefore already under a bit of pressure.

During a Buchloer majority game, Sertl had to admit defeat for the first time (7th).

The Peißenberger answer was relatively restrained, except for a chance from Sinan Ondörtoglu (10th), also on the power play.

The equalizer was all the more surprising

albeit with friendly support from the opponent.

A bad pass from the hosts in their own third ended up with Dejan Vogl, who clarified to make it 1-1 (15th).

The goal gave the Miners a boost.

They balanced the game.

Shortly before the first break, Tobias Estermaier missed the opening goal by a hair's breadth when the puck was five centimeters in front of the goal line.

In the middle third, Peißenberg's momentum was gone quickly

In the middle section, the momentum of the "Miners" quickly evaporated.

Buchloe dominated the action and was lucky that Sertl slipped a harmless shot from Robert Wittmann through the schooners – 2:1 (24th).

After that, the “Miners” keeper thwarted a few big chances for the home side before Max Schorer made it 3-1 with a long-range shot (31st).

As a result, the Peißenberg traded numerous penalties.

"That was undisciplined," annoyed Stalin.

The consequences were unpleasant: With two more men on the ice, the Buchloer increased to 4:1 (34th) through Andreas Schorer.

The gap could have grown even further after that, but the linkage of the Peissenberger case prevented further hits.

The “pirate” then caught up on what they had missed in the crazy final section, which mutated into lively target shooting. For the neutral visitor this would have been a performance with a high entertainment value. However, the faces of the dozen Miners fans who had traveled with them grew longer by the minute as their team conceded goals. More or less without resistance, the Buchloer were allowed to regularly curve through the Peißenberg third and celebrate their goals. Twice Wittmann, who scored a total of four goals, twice Alexander Krafczyk as well as Markus Vaitl and birthday boy Max Schorer, screwed the result into double digits. The hosts sometimes forgot to defend themselves when they scored goals: Moritz Birkner (44'), Dejan Vogl (49'), Niko Fissekis (51') and Ondörtoglu (56') also got involved.) still busy at the Schützenfest, which was record-breaking with eleven goals in 18 minutes.
