>>> UPDATE LIVE TICKER <<<
Munich/Bratislava – Germany has now had 15 corona cases at the European Handball Championship.
At least the mess will end soon.
This Tuesday evening (from 6 p.m.) the DHB team will play Russia at the end of the tournament in Hungary and Slovakia.
Because: The 2016 European champion clearly missed the semi-finals in Budapest due to three defeats in the main round.
A 23:29 against defending champion Spain was followed by a 23:28 Germany against Norway and finally a 21:25 defeat of the German national handball team against Sweden.
Battered by Corona, in the middle of upheaval, not enough power from the back room - that's all there was to this year's edition.
Patrick Wiencek (THW Kiel) and Simon Ernst (SC DHfK Leipzig) recently had two positive corona tests.

For national coach Alfred Gislason, the situation can't be surpassed in terms of "madness".
Youngster Lukas Zerbe announced for the game on Tuesday with a hint of gallows humor: "I would step in anywhere.
Wherever there is a need, I would play.”
Speaking of Zerbe: Only four players from the original 17-strong European Championship squad can still be used: Captain Johannes Golla, playmaker Philipp Weber, backcourt player Julian Köster and, of course, Zerbe.

The game against Russia is important, however, because with a view to the home European Championship in 2024, every international match counts to gain new insights.
So that the DHB team can play at the top again at the European Championships in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Mannheim and Munich.
