After signing another contingent player, EC Peiting now has three foreign players in its ranks - but only for a short time.

Peiting

– Good news has been few and far between in the Oberliga Süd in the past few days.

Not a single game took place on Sunday because almost all teams are in the Corona compulsory break.

At EC Peiting this is now over again.

After three weekends in a row without a single game, coach Anton Saal and his team are returning to training this Tuesday.

"All sick players were checked medically and all received the green light," reported Gordon Borberg.

Ice hockey: After the Czech Motloch, the Canadian Heffernan is now coming to Peiting

The Peitinger team manager used the free time to increase the recently thinned-out squad. At the end of last week, Peitingen already announced the signing of Czech defender Lukas Motloch, and now the premier league team is getting another new signing. Canadian Shane Heffernan will strengthen the ECP's offensive with immediate effect. With Heffernan, Motloch and the Dutchman Nardo Nagtzaam, the Peitingen have three foreigners in the team, but only for a short time. "Nardo will get a German passport in the foreseeable future," announced Borberg surprisingly. There are still a few formalities to be completed. But that should have happened by mid-February, so that the 31-year-old top scorer will no longer be one of the contingent players in the Peitinger team. Until it is ready,"We will rotate the foreigner position for a few weeks or line up depending on the opponent," said Borberg. The Peitinger had to act now because the transfer window closes on January 31st.

Ice Hockey: Shane Heffernan has played for clubs across Europe

Shane Heffernan is not entirely unknown in Germany.

In the 2011/12 season he played for the Bavarian league club TEV Miesbach.

Before and after, the Canadian worked across the entire European continent.

The now 34-year-old has played in Norway, Latvia, Slovakia, Belarus, Sweden, Moldova, Slovenia, Denmark, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and most recently in the Czech Republic.

"He's an interesting guy and a migratory bird," Borberg describes the Canadian, who stayed in his native Canada after his last club, SK Trhaci Kadan from the Czech second division, went bankrupt.

Ice hockey: First training session with the new team on Tuesday

The people of Peiting are expecting him at Munich Airport this Tuesday.

In the evening, the first team training for Heffernan and the second newcomer Lukas Motloch with their new teammates is already on the agenda.

“Shane has scored a lot of goals at all his clubs.

I think he fits in well with us," said Borberg.

He is convinced that the Canadian will quickly gain a foothold at the ECP.

Ice hockey: opponents and venues for the coming weekend are still unclear

However, whether he will play next Friday is just as unclear as the question of who the Peitingers will play against.

According to the schedule, the Saal troupe would be guests at the ECDC Memmingen.

The third in the table has been on the Corona break since last weekend, which makes a duel between the two teams rather unlikely.

"We're preparing to play on Friday - against whomever," said Borberg.

The people of Peiting are flexible when it comes to opponents and the venue.
