Leading twice is not enough against patient Ravensburgers: Tölzer Löwen lose 2:4.

Ravensburg/Bad Tölz – On par with the second in the table until shortly before the end: The Tölzer Löwen put on a remarkable performance in the catch-up game at the Ravensburg Towerstars on Tuesday.

Thanks to a mostly orderly defense and another strong goalkeeper, they held a 2-2 lead until four minutes before the end.

Almost a bit annoying that they ended up getting nothing.

Going behind after twice leading broke their resistance, even when coach Kevin Gaudet took the goalkeeper out in favor of another outfield player with more than two minutes to go.

The lions lost 4-2 after a goal into the empty goal.

At eye level until just before the end

Championship contender Ravensburg was never mercilessly superior.

In the phase after the 1-1 equalizer, they turned up the heat temporarily, showed what the team is made of and let attack after attack roll towards the Tölzer goal.

But the Towerstars failed several times at the goal posts and a again very good Josef Hölzl, who was preferred to Jimmy Hertel and made a completely calm impression.

In the first third they took it easy, which played into the hands of the decimated Tölzer, who surprisingly took the lead.

Cam Spiro found a tiny gap between the post and Jonas Langmann's schooner after Ian Brady's long pass diagonally across the field.

And even after the Ravensburger pressure phase, when Hölzl kept the guests in the game with good saves: The Löwen also had their chances.

Ravensburger under pressure

When it was still a draw in the final section, the home side in particular were under pressure. "Maybe we can take advantage of a mistake," said top scorer Lubor Dibelka during the break. And that's how it happened: Pascal Aquin increased to 2:1. But unlike last time against Frankfurt, when the Towerstars let themselves take a 3:2 lead shortly before the end and lost in the penalty shoot-out, they showed patience this time. After a sugar pass from Georgiy Saakyan in the slot, David Zucker was the first to equalize. And a little later – Oliver Ott, who was already on the bench when Ravensburg scored the first power play hit, also took the second Tölz penalty time – James Bettauer threw the puck into the goal to make it 3:2. The preliminary decision. Even if Dominic Bohac tried it vehemently. Another goal was only achieved by the EVR. The lions slip down to ninth place in the DEL 2.
