PSG: Donnarumma hoped for the 8th final of the Coupe de France against Nice

2022-01-26T12:15:44.420Z

Victim of a calf strain last Saturday, Gianluigi Donnarumma has not yet withdrawn from the reception of Nice in the Coupe de France.

The reception of Nice, next Monday as part of the knockout stages of the Coupe de France, promises to be complicated for PSG in terms of staff.

Already deprived of ten elements engaged with their national selections (Di Maria, Paredes, Marquinhos, Navas, Hakimi, Diallo and Gueye), injured (Wijnaldum) or in the recovery phase (Neymar, Bernat), Paris is also suspended from the evolution of the elongation in the calf of his goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma (22 years old).

Victim of pain last Saturday in training, the Italian goalkeeper had to forfeit the reception of Reims (4-0) at the Parc des Princes the next day.

An absence without real consequences for the club of the capital which could count on the always reassuring presence of Keylor Navas (35 years old) in the cages.

But the latter flew on Monday to join the Costa Rica selection engaged in two World Cup qualifying matches against Panama and Mexico.

The former Real Madrid will not be back in time to keep the Parisian goals against the Aiglons, his last match being played on the night of Sunday to Monday at midnight.

The Letellier, Franchi or Lavallée options

The Parisian staff will therefore do everything possible to get Donnarumma back on his feet. Contrary to what may have been mentioned, his package has not been recorded, and there is still a chance of obtaining a cure by Monday. The reigning European champion will continue his treatment over the next few days at the Camp des Loges and it is not impossible - even if time is not in his favor - that he will be restored by Sunday, the day before the Nice reception.

If the deadlines were too short, PSG could call on Alexandre Letellier (31), the third goalkeeper since the departure of Sergio Rico (28) on loan to Mallorca (Spanish Liga).

Still, the former doorman of Angers, trained at PSG, is just emerging from a right calf injury and must resume training with the group this Wednesday.

If his feelings are good, he should be operational next Monday.

Otherwise, the Parisian staff would have the choice between the two young shoots that are Denis Franchi (19 years old) and Lucas Lavallée (18 years old).

Regularly integrated into the professional group in recent weeks, particularly in the Coupe de France, the Italian and the French have, however, never played a single minute in pro.

This is the whole paradox of this PSG which aroused a lot of comments at the start of the season on its abundance of goalkeepers, and which will perhaps find itself in need of manpower in this sector of play.
