Record national player Lothar Matthäus has proposed three candidates from the Bundesliga as successors to Niklas Süle at FC Bayern.

Niklas Süle will leave FC Bayern free of charge at the end of the season.

Record national player Lothar Matthäus has now brought three surprising successor candidates into play.

Munich – Niklas Süle* and FC Bayern Munich* – the collaboration between the national soccer player and the German record champions will end on June 30th.

There is still no official confirmation from the player and the club, but it is clear that the 1.95-metre defensive giant will leave FC Bayern on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Apparently, Süle had already informed those responsible at FC Bayern about his decision at the beginning of the year.

After David Alaba*, Jerome Boateng* and Javi Martinez*, the 26-year-old is already the fourth defensive player to leave Munich within a year.

Niklas Süle: FC Barcelona and FC Chelsea favorites for a transfer?

It is still unclear where the native of Frankfurt, who has played 158 games for the current Bundesliga leaders and won 13 titles with Munich since his transfer to Bayern Munich in 2017, will go.

FC Barcelona* and FC Chelsea are traded as possible targets for Süles.

Conversely, FC Bayern is also forced to act.

“There are some very interesting players in the Bundesliga.

I am thinking of the Stuttgart Mavropanos, the Leipzig Gvardiol or the Bochum Bella-Kotchap.

Everyone plays a really good role in the Bundesliga, would certainly be financially feasible for Bayern and could develop further under Nagelsmann," wrote Matthäus.

In fact, all three players are currently top performers at their clubs - but is that enough for Bayern?

Konstantinos Mavropanos, who is currently on loan from Arsenal London to VfB Stuttgart*, is currently the top scorer in Swabia as a central defender with five goals in all competitions.

However, like Süle, the Greek is relatively prone to injury.

Josko Gvardiol, who can be used variably in central defense and as a right-back, is one of the permanent staff of coach Domenico Tedesco at RB Leipzig*.

For the 20-year-old, however, Bayern would have to dig deep into their pockets.

The Croatian international's contract with RB runs until 2026.

Matthäus' third proposal Armel Bella-Kotchap has been linked with a Serie A move to Udinese Calcio in recent days.

However, VfL Bochum* does not want to give up the German U21 international in winter.

FC Bayern: Antonio Rüdiger and Matthias Ginter in focus

In view of the other names that have already been traded as successor candidates in various media, it is questionable whether FC Bayern will actually try to find one of the three players mentioned.

The focus is apparently on four free transfer candidates.

These are Antonio Rüdiger* and Andreas Christensen from Chelsea FC and Matthias Ginter* and Denis Zakaria from Borussia Mönchengladbach*.
