The SE Freising footballers are preparing for the second half of the national league.

The problem: There is not only good news from the HR department.

Freising

– It seemed a bit strange at the beginning of the week when the SE Freising footballers met for one of the first training sessions as part of the preparations for the second half of the season in the Savoyer Au.

The Lerchenfelder have access to a pretty artificial turf pitch at all times - a circumstance that makes many a club in the area green with envy every year.

A convenience that the yellow-blacks could also use - if the space were cleared.

However, on Tuesday only a few square meters of the artificial green flashed through the now frozen snow cover.

Perhaps this bumpy start is a bit symbolic of the Freising winter break and a harbinger of the rest of the state league season, which the club is supposed to continue with the catch-up game at TSV Kastl on February 26th.

From then on - and the Freisinger kickers don't know that from the past few years - it will be all about staying up in the league.

Coach Alex Plabst's men are currently in seventh place, which actually looks quite reasonable.

However: There are only six points ahead of the first relegation relegation rank, although the Lerchenfelder still have a game in hand.

"It stays the same," Plabst repeats like a prayer wheel, "it's all about us leaving five teams behind us in the end."

Florian Schmuckermeier is out again

To this end, the SEF gathered its team again for training in the Savoyer Au in mid-January.

It is the last winter preparation for Plabst, who will leave the club in the summer of his own volition.

And even in these six months, the coach has to rotate a lot again in terms of personnel.

The renewed failure of captain Florian Schmuckermeier, who initially reported fit, but then injured the right lateral ligament of his knee in the first training session, is painful.

downtime?

Uncertain.

In addition, another option for defense should have returned in Vitus Kirchberger, but the back of the central defender is still on strike.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

A lot is still uncertain in the goalkeeper position.

Maximilian Oswald is intended to be the regular keeper, but is currently unable to train due to tests during the week.

And: Striker Andreas Hohlenburger, who is also going into his last six months at SEF and then moves to FCA Unterbruck, continues to have aches and pains.

When and how he can intervene is written in the stars.

Returnees offer new opportunities on the offensive

But there are also positive things to report from the HR department.

Robert Rohrhirsch is back from his studies in the USA and has rejoined the association.

Just like Felix Günzel, who was also in America to study.

Both offer the squad new offensive options.

In addition, there is a good chance that Sebastian Thalhammer will end his ordeal after more than a year.

And a comeback should finally satisfy the SEF: With Osaro Aiteniora, Freising's best defender reports fit again.

The test matches of the SEF:
